Hefty rewards have been announced by the government for the people who identify hoarders of essential food items amid the coronavirus lockdown.
In a press briefing following the federal cabinet meeting, the Advisor to Prime Minister on Information, Dr. Firdaus Ashiq Awan revealed this.
According to Awan those who will help the government in this crackdown against the profiteers and hoarders will get 10% of the amount/stock confiscated during the raid.

She said, “The ordinance against the stewardess demonstrates the prime minister’s commitment to protect the public from inflation and low prices.”
She said people who are taking advantage of the public needs to be dealt with strictly. They do not deserve any relief.
She said that the hoarding ordinance will protect the interest of common people by making sure that uninterrupted supply of essential items is given at government-approved rates.
Adding, “The ordinance against the hoarders demonstrates the prime minister’s commitment to protect the public from inflation. Anyone who takes advantage of public hardship does not deserve any relief.”
SAPM has appealed to the public to help in identification of the culprits and their warehouses and as a reward receive 10% of the seized goods.
The newly launched anti-hoarding ordinance has three-year sentence, summary trial and confiscation of the material for hoarding of wheat, sugar, flour, ghee, sanitizers, face masks, and other important goods.
