10 million people who belong to the low-income group would be getting a Rs.12,000 stipend for 4-months in a lump sum under the relief package of PM Khan. The package has been announced by the federal government on Tuesday for curbing the adverse impact of the coronavirus on the family budget of the less-privileged families.
As per the document issued by the Finance Division, the government would be offering Rs.144 billion under the package and the money would be extra besides the already allotted funds under the Ehsaas programme of the government for the poor people.
PM Khan has also announced Rs.200 billion for the daily wage workers and it is anticipated that the amount might also be distributed via the provinces. But, the plan for the distribution of the amount is still being formulated.
The top officials of the government managing the Ehsaas programme had asked the government to announce Rs.4,000 on a per month basis for the poor people who are adversely affected by the coronavirus epidemic, however, the finance ministry has disagreed and has taken the decision of offering a monthly stipend of Rs.3,000. The officials of the Ehsaas programme have decided to give the lump sum amount of Rs.12,000 to the deserving and eligible people.
PM Khan has also announced Rs.1.5 trillion relief package to assist the less-privileged people belonging to the low-income group, export, agriculture and industrial sectors amid the adverse effects of the coronavirus epidemic on the economy of the country.
